Abstract
Dans cet article, nous analysons la rupture (et ses variations) en tant que ressource stratégique, dans le complexe de sécurité proche-oriental. Nous prenons pour appui trois moments de la relation franco-syrienne, qui sont autant de ruptures. Présentée comme irréversible, la rupture de 2004-2005 permet d’évaluer la centralité libanaise dans les relations franco-syriennes telles que les a conçues Jacques Chirac. Celle de 2007-2008 semble au contraire monnayable. Elle s’articule autour du rôle que la France souhaite pour elle-même dans les questions régionales, notamment sur le dossier de paix syro-israélien. Enfin, la rupture de 2011 apparaît comme une projection, un pari sur une solution de rechange au régime syrien. Ces césures s’inscrivent dans des variables régionales complexes, qui les ont provoquées ou qui sont influencées par elles.
