Abstract
The Agricultural Business Chamber (Agbiz) recently released the Quarter 3 (Q3) results for the Agbiz/IDC Agribusiness Confidence Index. After remaining below 50 index points for five consecutive quarters, the confidence index recovered significantly by 13 index points to 60 in Q3 of this year. This is the highest reading since Q3 of 2014. An index point above 50 indicates expansion in South African agribusiness activities. Therefore an index point of 60 suggests that agribusinesses have a relatively optimistic view of business conditions of the sector in the country.
