Abstract

Telecommunication operators increasingly employ Access Networks to quickly, and inexpensively, expand the access infrastructure. ETSI and ITU produced recommendations V5.1 and V5.2 defining a standard interface for narrow band Access Networks. This recommendation specifies load limits that should be supported by V5.x access systems. This paper describes the performance test strategy to verify the system compliance with ETSI and ITU performance requirements. The study ends with the discussion of the load limits that this system can support without degrading its operation. By the time these testes were carried out no V5 equipment was available in the market and no other values were available to compare with. System architecture and functionality are briefly presented too.
