Abstract
Comme de nouvelles valeurs sont en jeu, la plupart des Églises, à l’Ouest et à l’Est, reconnaissent qu’elles ne peuvent éviter de débattre la question des armes nucléaires et différentes options se formulent selon la profondeur du questionnement amorcé et l’ampleur des solutions avancées. L’auteur en témoigne pour les pays de l’Est et soulève le rôle particulier que jouent les Églises en RDA où l’on trouve un profond engagement pour la paix. Bénéficiant d’un statut « d’Église à l’intérieur du socialisme », l’Église luthérienne est en mesure d’offrir un espace plus large à la discussion. Elle est aussi capable d’appuyer des objecteurs de conscience, opposés au service militaire, ainsi que la campagne contre la militarisation de la société est-allemande, engagée par des groupes autonomes.
