Abstract
Le CREFO, mis sur pied en 1972 par trois mouvements d’éducation populaire est une centrale syndicale (CFDT) forme des travailleurs socialement et culturellement parmi les plus défavorisés, dans la région Nord-Pas-de-Calais, en France. Cet organisme est chargé d’organiser des formations décidées et conduites par les travailleurs. Il a su retrouver ce qui peut faire la force de l’éducation populaire : son alliance avec les syndicats ouvriers; il réaffirme les valeurs de l’éducation populaire : réduction des inégalités sociales et culturelles et autonomisation des travailleurs. L’article expose les structures de fonctionnement de l’organisme, les problèmes reliés à son financement, les activités de formation qu’il dispense, le travail pédagogique qu’il effectue.
