Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a major cause of end stage renal disease. Several co-morbid complications that accompany the diabetic uremic state influence the management and outcome. Peritoneal dialysis has emerged as a stable and suitable modality in the management of diabetic patients not only as a bridge treatment before renal transplantation but also as chronic maintenance dialysis support. Because of inherent advantages, it is favored over hemodialysis in several situations, in patients with diabetes and end stage kidney disease.
