Abstract
Ce texte aborde le discours poétique d’affirmation identitaire qui se met en place en Acadie et en Ontario français au cours des années 1970 et 1980, à travers le prisme de la franco-américanité. Au lendemain de la Révolution tranquille québécoise et de l’éclatement du Canada français tel qu’on le connaissait jusque-là, on constate une volonté des artistes acadiens et franco-ontariens d’affirmer leur identité. Cette volonté est particulièrement présente en poésie, un genre qui contribuera largement à donner une nouvelle profondeur sémiotique à la région à laquelle se rattachent les auteurs. Si chacun a son identité propre, un regard sur l’ensemble de leurs textes permet de relever certaines similitudes dans le processus d’affirmation tel qu’il se produit en Acadie et en Ontario français. C’est à partir de ces ressemblances que Jimmy Thibeault s’interroge sur la possible réactualisation d’un Canada français, non plus envisagé dans un esprit national, mais comme une pluralité de voix porteuses d’une certaine franco-américanité.
