Abstract
Cet article porte sur la ville négro-africaine et sur les deux époques de son mode de production, soit la période qui précède la « balkanisation » et celle qui la suit. Cette réflexion mène à un examen de quelques pratiques urbanistiques se rapportant à l’armature urbaine, au modèle de structuration régionale depuis les ressources agricoles, et à l’urbanisation intensive. L’auteur constate que toutes ces pratiques, transposées consciemment ou non sur le sol négro-africain, sont devenues désuètes après les indépendances, car elles se butent aux réalités locales. Une brève conclusion permet de dégager un certain nombre de questions sur les pratiques urbanistiques postcoloniales. En vue d’éviter de nouvelles erreurs de conception, il est suggéré de repenser une nouvelle ville authentiquement négro-africaine qui pourrait s’appeler Afrikaville, car le décalage entre les modèles proposés et les forces en présence subsiste encore aujourd’hui.
