Cet article rappelle d’abord l’importance de la proximité entre les parcours de vie de la jeunesse populaire et ceux de la jeunesse handicapée. Elles sont l’une et l’autre confrontées à des conditions très comparables, notamment au moment du passage à l’âge adulte. L’analyse se resserre ensuite sur ce qui constitue l’une des spécificités des trajectoires de cette jeunesse handicapée. La « gestion bureaucratique des biographies » à laquelle celle-ci est confrontée lui impose une temporalité où sont sans cesse repoussées les étapes constituant idéalement la transition vers l’âge adulte, et tend à l’exclure d’expériences socialisatrices parmi les plus communes.
