Abstract
De auteurs houden een pleidooi voor een uitgesproken betrokkenheid van de arts bij de organisatie van de gezondheidszorg door het opnemen van een verantwoordelijke leiderschapsrol. Zorg wordt gedreven door waardecreatie voor de patiënt wanneer de arts de aangeleerde rollen uit het CanMeds-model (“Canadian Medical Education Directives for Specialists”) met 7 competentiegebieden en 28 kerncompetenties in de praktijk brengt en verder ontwikkelt tijdens het beroepsleven. Het plan van aanpak voor de hervorming van de ziekenhuisfinanciering door het kabinet, voorgesteld in april 2015 en sinds kort ook progressief uitgerold, biedt kansen voor artsen voor beleidsparticipatie en is voor patiënten een eerste stap naar waardecreatie in de zorg.
