Abstract

Nous présentons brièvement la pensée éducative ressortant des écrits de Jean-Jacques Rousseau au 18 e siècle, pour ensuite la mettre en tension avec certaines théories de l’apprentissage qui ont cours aujourd’hui. Nous cherchons à mettre en lumière en quoi Rousseau peut encore contribuer aujourd’hui à penser l’éducation, mais aussi en quoi sa pensée est en tension avec certains paradigmes contemporains. Nous concluons en soulignant la nécessité de réfléchir à tous les principes de l’enseignement/apprentissage en tenant compte de la finalité de contribuer au développement d’un être humain au potentiel unique, capable de devenir un être autonome et libre, participant activement à son devenir et à celui de la société.
