Abstract
Au tournant des années 1970, on observe chez plusieurs écrivains francophones de l’Ouest du Canada une poésie tournée vers sa propre spécificité, engagée dans des problématiques d’ordre formel et qui a tendance à se dégager des questions sociales et politiques. C’est notamment le cas de l’oeuvre poétique de J. R. Léveillé, qui demande a priori à être lue pour sa valeur intrinsèque, refusant d’emblée les lectures référentielles. Dans le présent article, nous verrons toutefois que le recours à certaines stratégies déployées dans les textes poétiques de cet auteur est symptomatique d’une tension observable dans les littératures francophones du Canada entre les prétentions universalistes de l’oeuvre et la condition de minoritaire qui lui est inféodée et qui se négocie ici par l’entremise de l’exercice que nous appelons « concomitance ».
