Abstract
L’histoire de l’adaptation de la fiction populaire française montre comment la montée en puissance du journal, du roman-feuilleton et de formats apparentés a reconfiguré la phase d’hégémonie du mélodrame. C’est désormais la fiction imprimée qui devient le noyau, et le théâtre le satellite : cette culture médiatique redéfinit ses pratiques culturelles en termes de loisirs et de marché, réinterprète la pratique ancienne de la narration, l’adapte à ses nouveaux moyens de diffusion.
