Abstract
En Chine, en Asie du Sud-Est et dans le monde anglo-saxon, le musée connaît de profondes mutations qui ont peu à voir les unes avec les autres. Avec toutefois comme point commun celui d’être un enjeu crucial pour les pouvoirs. En Chine, l’explosion des projets et des chantiers à nulle autre pareille est au service du développement urbain et surtout du leadership de puissance mondiale. Singapour et Hong Kong cherchent à développer leur propre identité. Dans le monde anglo-saxon, il existe deux modèles de développement des musées. Celui, privé, des États-Unis, qui fonctionne grâce aux financements des donateurs, très présents dans la gouvernance des institutions. Et le musée de service public dans le reste de l’espace anglo-saxon. Or, c’est précisément dans les musées britanniques, canadiens, australiens et néo-zélandais que s’opère cette mutation fondamentale.
