Abstract
Résumé Les parcours de vie intéressent de plus en plus les chercheurs en sciences sociales qui ont à leur disposition les enquêtes longitudinales et les enquêtes rétrospectives. C’est l’enquête rétrospective quantitative qui a été choisie pour mettre à jour les trajectoires professionnelles types d’adultes ou de jeunes adultes peu qualifiés en formation dans le cadre d’une recherche menée dans le quart Nord-Est de la France. Elles donnent à voir des situations qui confirment la diversité des parcours. Selon les expériences professionnelles ou le niveau de qualification, les représentations de la formation seront différentes, cependant tous attendent beaucoup de la formation notamment en termes d’insertion professionnelle. Les espoirs sont souvent déçus, dans l’immédiat la formation satisfait un besoin de rencontres, apporte une certaine légitimité sociale ou encore contribue au développement d’une certaine forme d’autonomie… autant de constats qui interrogent l’offre de formation à destination des adultes peu qualifiés.
