지난 9월 12일 캐나다 최대의 금융회사인 Royal Bank of Canada는 세계 최초로 공모방식의 커버드본드(Covered Bond)를 발행함. 이러한 공모방식 커버드본드는 기존의 사모방식 커버드본드가 갖는 이중적인 투자자 보호구조에다 SEC의 감독하에 발행되어 유동성이 높다는 이점까지 더해지면서 안전성이 더욱 강화됨.
