Abstract
Le présent article cherche à décrire les usages des supports du livre et du journal chez Albert Laberge et Damase Potvin. Il s’agit d’interroger la manière dont ces derniers ont conçu et mené la publication de leurs textes en livres et en périodiques, en fonction des contraintes éditoriales d’un milieu littéraire marqué par l’idéologie du terroir. L’article éclaire à la fois les prescriptions entourant l’objet littéraire de l’époque et les stratégies diamétralement opposées des deux écrivains-journalistes en s’attachant, d’une part, à l’influence du support journalistique dans la construction du seul roman de Laberge,La Scouine,publié en journal, puis en tirage limité de 60 exemplaires; et, d’autre part, à l’abondance de la production livresque et journalistique de Damase Potvin, partisan de la veine régionaliste. Ces aspects de leur production permettront non seulement de circonscrire les démarches inversées de Laberge et Potvin, mais également de saisir l’importance distincte de deux supports, le journal et le livre, pour la littérature de l’époque.
