Les PME representent la majorite du tissu industriel de la plupart des nations et y creent la majorite des emplois. Elles sont devenues les outils qu'utilisent bien des gouvernements et des partenaires au developpement pour reduire la pauvrete et stimuler et diversifier les economies. Dans une perspective comparative, cet ouvrage etudie l'entrepreneuriat dans trois pays de culture et de niveau economique differents, malgre leur appartenance commune a l'espace de la Francophonie : un pays industrialise et membre du G8, le Canada, un pays emergent et membre de l'Union europeenne, la Roumanie, et un pays en voie de developpement d'Afrique et exportateur de petrole, le Congo Brazzaville. L'etude s'inscrit dans le contexte de l'analyse institutionnelle et integre, notamment, la culture du developpement durable, visant a mettre en evidence l'impact de divers facteurs sur les specificites du comportement entrepreneurial des PME. Les auteurs avancent que la promotion des PME dependra fondamentalement de la capacite a generer des institutions de qualite qui jouent un role determinant dans une meilleure coordination marchande.
