Abstract
Cet article s’intéresse à la présence culturelle du comique Gilles Latulippe dans la société québécoise à l’époque de la Révolution tranquille et plus spécifiquement à une œuvre cinématographique, négligée dans l’histoire du cinéma au Québec, dont il était la vedette : Pousse mais pousse égal. Malgré son exclusion d’une histoire nationale du cinéma, nous cherchons à comprendre sa participation au processus d’élaboration d’un sentiment d’appartenance à cette « communauté imaginée » qu’est la nation québécoise. Nous croyons que l’humour de cette comédie populaire joua le rôle d’un catalyseur permettant la constitution d’une « culture fondatrice » proposant une expérience de modernité vernaculaire québécoise.
