Abstract
Les monstres se définissent par ce qui va à l’encontre de la doxa et des normes sociales. La peur de l’inconnu, le dégoût, la différence, l’incompréhension : autant de sentiments que nous associons aux individus anormaux. C’est dans cette optique que nous proposons une analyse quant à la nature sociale du physique monstrueux des personnages que l’on retrouve dans l’œuvre paralittéraire québécoise la trilogie de Mallaig de Diane Lacombe dont la trame se déroule au Moyen-Âge. Pour ce faire, nous nous pencherons sur la physionomie dite tératologique, les maladies affectant le corps ainsi que les coups et blessures qui détériorent la peau.
