Abstract
Le boulevard Saint-Laurent de Montréal se caractérise par une juxtaposition de quartiers communautaires issus des diverses vagues de migrations. L’un d’entre eux fut l’espace d’implantation privilégié de la population italienne, au point de prendre le nom de Petite Italie. Progressivement déserté au profit d’autres arrondissements montréalais, il est devenu un lieu de concentration de matérialités culturelles italiennes facilement repérables. Les commerçants qui participent à cette sorte de mise en scène italienne du quartier y trouvent le creuset d’une identification. Mais cette identification est plurielle et dépend de leur position générationnelle dans l’histoire de la migration au Québec, s’ils sont primo-arrivants ou italo-descendants.
