Abstract

Au sein des pays de l’OCDE, de nombreux dispositifs destinés à développer le numérique ont été mis en place. Profitant de ce développement technologique, les façons de travailler se diversifient en réponse à la fois au contexte économique (être performant, efficace et efficient) et aux attentes des employés désireux d’une meilleure conciliation entre leur travail et leur vie privée. Le travail à distance s’est accru et prend des formes diverses, telles que le travail à domicile ou la possibilité de travailler hors des murs de son domicile et de son lieu de travail habituel. Cette dernière possibilité peut se concrétiser par la mise en place de tiers-lieux destinés à faciliter la collaboration et le partage des connaissances : espaces de coworking, fab labs, living labs notamment. On observe déjà des implantations de tiers-lieux dans la plupart des pays développés et leur nombre augmente un peu plus chaque année. La recherche sur ces nouvelles formes d’organisation est en pleine effervescence, même si elle est en émergence pour le moment. Notre recherche a pour objet de proposer une synthèse de connaissances sur les tiers-lieux. Les résultats nous permettent désormais de mieux cerner les différences entre ces divers types de lieux et dispositifs. Cet état de l’art a aussi contribué à faire avancer notre réflexion sur leur définition et leur catégorisation. S’il y a un ensemble d’écrits épars sur les tiers-lieux, nos travaux nous ont permis de déceler des manques et insuffisances. Toutefois, les écrits attestent de l’engouement pour ces nouveaux espaces d’échanges et exposent des résultats intéressants quant à l’impact de leur implantation sur les territoires concernés et sur le travail.
