Abstract
The workspaces of art therapists are deeply tied to, and evolve with, the communities and environments in which they exist. The physical elements and qualities of a workspace affect both clients' experience and art therapists' approach to their work. Art therapists can utilize community art making combined with reflexive practice to better understand and develop the potential of their workspaces. Imaginative art making experiences can also realign art therapists with theory in fresh and significant ways. This article is an autoethnographic account of community art making and subsequent effects of that art making on an art therapy space and practice.
