Abstract

Este artigo analisa a influência dos investimentos estatais no desenvolvimento econômico dos municípios paranaenses. Utilizaram-se dados referentes aos investimentos realizados pelo Estado (União e Estado) no período de 1986 a 2004 e dados sobre o grau de desenvolvimento dos municípios para o ano de 2004. A associação entre desenvolvimento e inversões estatais foi delineada através de um modelo de regressão quadrática, na qual verificou-se que o aumento nos investimentos do Estado eleva o grau de desenvolvimento dos seus municípios, a taxas decrescentes. Desta forma, a ação do Estado no desenvolvimento dos municípios paranaenses é relevante, com uma eficiência maior das suas inversões no início do processo; na medida em que o Estado intensifica seus investimentos, cria-se um dinamismo interno que conduz por si só o desenvolvimento econômico.
