Dans la foulée du mouvement féministe contemporain du Canada, des États-Unis et parfois du Québec, des femmes choisissent, en nombre grandissant, de se dire sorcières et d’émigrer ainsi vers de nouvelles terres spirituelles. Réunies en cercles les soirs de pleine lune et rappelant à la vie les anciennes et puissantes déesses des mythologies européennes, elles partent sur la trace de l’héritage que leur ont légué les sorcières d’une autre époque. Leur quête apparaît comme une réminiscence des « zones imaginaires d’exclusion » de la culture patriarcale, comme l’écho d’une présence presque oubliée, qui ne cesserait pourtant de se réinventer à la faveur d’une renaissance de l’imaginaire féminin.
