Romanian Abstract: In acest articol analizez modalitaţile prin care oamenii acorda atenţie relaţiei lor cu noile locuinţe in urma stramutarii din comuna Rosia Montana, judeţul Alba, in municipiul Alba Iulia, ca urmare a intenției companiei Rosia Montana Gold Corporation de a realiza un proiect minier in vederea exploatarii aurifere pe raza comunei. In acest caz particular localnicii au avut posibilitatea sa ia cu ei orice lucruri din vechea locuința si in același timp au primit și sume de bani in urma schimbului de case cu compania canadiana. Lucrarea analizeaza modul in care localnicii au selectat lucrurile și cum le-au integrat in noile gospodarii. De asemenea, argumentez ca design-ul interior și exterior al locuințelor reflecta gradul de adaptare a localnicilor la un nou stil de viața in urma stramutarii. Lucrarea se bazeaza pe date obţinute in urma unei cercetari de teren desfașurate la inceputul procesului de stramutare, in luna aprilie 2010 si un an mai târziu, in luna mai 2011. Metodologia de cercetare a fost una mixta, fiind folosite mai multe instrumente de cercetare: interviul semi-structurat, chestionarul, precum și discuții libere și realizarea de fotografii. English Abstarct: Using the village community of Rosia Montana in Alba county as a case study, this article analyses how people cope with moving in a new residence. The mining plans for gold exploitation of Rosia Montana Gold Corporation lead to the displacement of village residents from Rosia Montana to Recea District in the city of Alba Iulia. In this particular case, the locals had the possibility to carry as much items as they pleased from their former homes into their new ones, while also saving money following the house exchange with the Canadian company. The paper examines the driving factors behind the selection criteria of locals regarding their items and the way they integrated these items in their new homes. Finally, an analysis of interior and exterior designs for the new homes is made in order to determine to what extent the design of new homes reflects the adaptability of individuals following their displacement. The data used in this article was gathered during two fieldwork stages that took place at the beginning of the displacement phase, in April 2010 and a year later, in May 2011. Research methods included not only research tools such as questionnaires or a semi-structured interview, but also open discussions and taking photographs.
