Abstract
O presente artigo tem como principal objetivo apresentar um estudo sobre a concepção da escritora Virginia Woolf acerca do feminino. Inicialmente, a partir de um levantamento bibliográfico, discorremos sobre a vida e a obra da escritora, mostrando o quanto ambas estão entrelaçadas. Em seguida, identificamos algumas mulheres importantes em sua vida, as quais lhe proporcionaram certa intimidade com o universo feminino. No momento seguinte é feita uma contextualização histórica do lugar do qual emana o discurso de Virgínia Woolf. Ali é estabelecida uma interlocução entre suas ideias sobre o masculino e o feminino e as discussões de então sobre gênero, tornando evidente o quanto Virginia estava à frente do seu tempo. Este texto não tem o objetivo de estabelecer uma relação de causalidade entre o drama pessoal de Virginia e a sua obra, mas apenas de apresentar a intensidade de afetos por ela vividos que transbordam no interior de sua obra.
