Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This CD-ROM and audio CD document installations and sound performances by J.P. Gauthier, R. Gervais and J. Heward, presented as part of the “Sound as Iconographer” exhibition (2000). The CD-ROM contains an introductory essay by the artist-curators (Provencher and Tremblay) that suggests the multidisciplinary works in the exhibition explore relations between art and science, material aspects of sound and the musical potential of objects. It also includes information on the artists, detailed documentation of their works (incorporating electro-acoustic, electronic and improvisational music), comprehensive information on influential artists/composers (Cage, Duchamp, Varese, Russolo, Satie, Rauschenberg) and inventors of technology (Bell, Berliner, Cros, Edison, Fessenden, Marconi, Morse); and a link to the Montreal Telegraphe website. The audio CD presents: five musical compositions by J.P. Gauthier and M. Sabatini; four pieces by R. Gervais, R.M. Lepage and M. Goldstein; and one composition by J. Heward, M. Goldstein, D. Prentice and R. Wiens. 71 bibl. ref. 80 disc. ref.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
