Abstract
Este ensayo presento algunos trazos de mi trayectoria personal como un historiador que tuvo su formacion de base en Chile, pero que hizo lo esencial de su carrera y de su produccion en Canada, influido por otros contextos. La primera parte es dedicada a mi etapa chilena; la segunda, a mis experiencias en la historia oral de la militancia en la izquierda chilena y la historia de la inmigracion; la tercera a mi trabajo sobre historia del vino chileno; y la cuarta, a mi experiencia de ensenar y escribir sobre historia de America Latina.
