Abstract
L’idée d’un musée postal en France date de la seconde moitié du xixe siècle. En 1889, Arthur Maury, grand négociant et collectionneur, propose la création d’un musée. Neuf ans plus tard, la Société française de timbrologie interpelle sur ce sujet Léon Mougeot, sous-secrétaire d’État des Postes et Télégraphes rappelant que le voisin allemand possède son musée depuis 1872.
