Abstract
Le travail a longtemps été considéré comme l’expérience sociale centrale, et cette position semble aujourd’hui contestée. Mais est-ce bien le travail lui-même qui est mis en question, ou plutôt les définitions qui en sont données et les modes d’analyse de la relation de travail ? Une première série de difficultés conceptuelles vient du fait qu’on ne peut tenir pour acquises les définitions ni de l’entreprise, ni du contrat de travail. D’autre part, d’autres logiques sociales, ne découlant pas du salariat, sont à l’oeuvre dans la relation de travail et conjointement avec elle, en particulier le patriarcat et le pouvoir politique.
