L’ère du numérique, l’émergence du concept de troisième lieu, l’hybridation croissante du financement de la culture sont autant de transformations auxquelles sont confrontées les organisations culturelles et particulièrement les bibliothèques. Ces quelques éléments de contexte induisent la redéfinition du modèle de gestion de ces organisations à travers le développement de leurs ressources propres. Elles se doivent d’innover afin d’initier un nouveau modèle fondé, entre autres, sur les principes du marketing culturel tout en conservant leurs missions originelles. Cette recherche s’intéresse au degré actuel d’intégration du marketing au sein des bibliothèques ainsi qu’à l’exploration et aux imaginaires que suscite le marketing. Cette recherche propose également de cerner les convergences et les différences entre deux bibliothèques, l’une se situant sur le territoire français et l’autre, sur le territoire québécois, et ainsi de dégager une analyse comparative sur le plan des modalités organisationnelles liées à l’intégration de « l’orientation-client ».
