La jeunesse a été et s’est représentée comme principe unificateur des mouvements sociaux du tournant des années soixante. Mais elle a perdu cette place prépondérante pour devenir aujourd’hui une cohorte statistique particulièrement frappée par la crise. D’une position d’acteur social privilégié, elle est devenue victime désignée de la crise. Cela ne se comprend que par les changements décisifs de la conjoncture économique et de leur incidence sur les rapports de force au sein de l’État. La question des jeunes permet d’analyser le problème du travail et du non-travail, ainsi que celui de la place de l’État dans la crise actuelle de régulation de l’accumulation capitaliste.
