Abstract
Un surprenant phénomène de mobilité professionnelle est observé chez des cadres français.e.s : un changement de secteur d’activité accompagné d’un déclassement de catégorie socio-professionelle. Les concepts existants de bifurcation / rupture biographique ou de reconversion professionnelle volontaire capturent mal ce phénomène. Le concept de rupture intentionnelle de carrière est proposé. Il est formulé à partir d’une revue critique des notions liées à la mobilité professionnelle et affiné par une enquête qualitative auprès de cadres français.e.s au mitan de la vie qui entreprennent ce processus dans le but de redonner du sens à leur travail. Les différentes étapes qui marquent ce processus sont décrites et présentées.
