Abstract Mid-wall hydrogen blisters have been detected in a High-Pressure Separator located in the Diesel Hydrotreater (DHT) Unit at an oil refinery located in eastern Canada. An internal coating was applied to the section of the vessel experiencing the blistering. The rate of hydrogen flux through the vessel wall was monitored externally on this coated section as well as on an uncoated section of this same Separator. This paper presents and compares online hydrogen flux data from the two locations.
