L’identité des Québécois francophones s’est toujours construite en confrontation avec celle des anglophones. L’instauration d’une politique linguistique en faveur de la langue française a participé à l’émancipation des francophones, mais, aujourd’hui encore, on observe une forme d’auto-dévaluation des Québécois francophones. C’est à cette question que cet article est consacré, et ce, à partir d’une étude de cas envisagée selon une approche sociolinguistique de l’analyse du discours : la controverse entourant l’affaire Maclean’s, où des tensions fortement ancrées entre les groupes – et au sein d’un même groupe – ont été remises en discours à la suite de la publication, par le magazine canadien Maclean’s, d’un dossier sur la corruption au Québec.
