Abstract
This article examines the influence of culture on management and work, using the Kuwaiti society as a model. The concepts of work, work-related values, business ethics, corruption, nepotism, and wasta are discussed through an extensive examination and review of several recent studies. The conclusion arrived at in this study indicates the importance of culture in shaping and reshaping work values and ethics. The study therefore encourages the establishment of an independent field of specialization focusing on work values, ethics, and manners in anthropology, or Anthropology of Work. For only through proper understanding of the cultural background of a society can behavioral patterns of work and management be understood, realized, and analyzed.
