Abstract
El proposito de este articulo es analizar las redes sociales en el area urbana de Ottawa de un trabajador pobre de origen congoleno. El texto indica la existencia de redes vecinales locales (asociaciones vecinales, iglesias) y redes transnacionales (los negocios empezaron aqui para mantener el desarrollo economico y social alli). Cada dia, sus condiciones de trabajo y vida son presionadas por el mecanismo de subcontratacion que le emplea, su insercion en la vida social (la reconstruccion o recomposicion de su familia extendida) y la economia (trabajo, consumo de servicios tales como el telefono e Internet que son los vehiculos de la globalizacion), una relacion mantenida con amigos, primos y sobrinos que viven a lo largo y ancho del mundo y el interes para salvar los aspectos positivos de su cultura sin desafiar el contenido esencial de la cultura de aqui. Como resultado, el es tanto de aqui como de alli.
