This paper reviews history, current status and future perspective of thermal issues of electronics equipment, especially from the viewpoint of industry. In the past quarter century, hardware architecture of computer has been changed from "integral" to "modular". This change has promoted the generation of "thermal management market" in industry. As future perspective, we emphasize the importance of front-loading methodology for effective thermal design, concept of "energy-efficient", and standardization of innovative cooling technology, as well as conventional thermal issues.
