En 2014-2015, la peinture murale romaine a été à l’honneur en France. S’est en effet tenue, du 15 novembre 2014 au 22 mars 2015, au musée Saint-Raymond de Toulouse, une exposition intitulée L’Empire de la couleur. De Pompéi au sud des Gaules, qui a suscité diverses publications et initiatives.
