Abstract
Dans un centre d’hébergement et de soins de longue durée de Québec s’est tenue en 2015 une cérémonie à la mémoire des résidents décédés au cours de la dernière année. Cet évènement fut l’occasion d’assister en direct à la création d’une nouvelle cérémonie aux morts, de la conception jusqu’à son déroulement. L’étude des caractères généraux de la cérémonie, des séquences et des étapes, des gestes posés et des paroles prononcées, ainsi que des symboles manipulés, permet d’interroger les relations aux morts et à la mort dans la société contemporaine, mais aussi la manière dont un centre d’hébergement se pense et se représente.
