Abstract
Three rare preserved Latin songs from the first quarter of 18th century about Eugene of Savoy are presented and analysed. They come from the Czech monastic environment and can be perceived as representatives of three types of approach to the preiod comprehension of the phenomenon of Eugen of Savoy. Jacob´s secular Dialogus inter Eugenium et Vwzirium Turcicum represents an as yet rare composition within the framework of Czech monastic culture. On the one hand, it confirms his exceptional standings among the Czech composers of the 1st half of the 18th century, whose music has been at least pratially preserved. Jacob´s eye for detail in the working of a historic event conceived as a dramatic operatic scene contrasts with Majer´s eye for the epic sum of all his heroic deeds. Finally, the anonymous Nova laeta perfaceta accents the combination of venal and soldier´s songs with sensational nature of the event and the apellative nature of the text, while Majer constructs the official myth as a tribute to the state ideology of the Habsburgs and Jacob uses dramatic abbreviations associated with satirical elements to present Eugene as a character of direct action.
