Abstract
L’article porte sur le développement des pratiques de compostage collectif, analysé à partir d’une étude ethnographique menée dans l’agglomération lyonnaise. Il décrit comment des pratiques de détournement des matières fermentescibles des flux de déchets initiées par des habitants et des associations, tendent à être reconnues et institutionnalisées tout en faisant l’objet d’une régulation assez poussée. Cet article propose une analyse des régimes de circulation des déchets à partir d’une observation des opérations par lesquelles des acteurs s’organisent pour faire circuler d’une autre manière les déchets organiques, les détourner d’un régime de circulation qualifié d’« industriel » et les introduire dans un autre circuit, qu’il s’agit de faire advenir, défini comme « proche » et « militant ». Nous montrons comment la mise en circulation de ces matières consiste à « court-circuiter » le système sociotechnique établi de la gestion des déchets, tout en s’y ajustant, et combien à travers la dimension matérielle de ces déchets sont engagés des circuits multiples et imbriqués : d’ordre financier, éthique, écologique, social et politique.
