Cette communication portera essentiellement sur le rôle qu’a joué la Division de la gestion de documents et des archives de l’Université de Montréal dans le développement de la pratique archivistique au Québec, et ce, sous l’angle de la collaboration constante qui n’a cessé de se renforcer avec notre institution, à savoir les Archives nationales du Québec, aujourd’hui la Direction générale des Archives nationales de Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ). Plusieurs dossiers seront cités en exemple : l’adoption de la Loi sur les archives de 1983, la parution du manuel Les Archives au XX e siècle qui a marqué la pratique archivistique au Québec, l’élaboration du Recueil des règles de conservation des documents des établissements universitaires , la création du Groupe interdisciplinaire de recherche en archivistique, etc. D’autres dossiers seront aussi évoqués, notamment des événements qui ont fait date dans l’histoire plus récente de notre discipline et dans lesquels les deux institutions ont été impliquées.
