Abstract
À la lumière du paradoxe de l’énonciation surréaliste, cette étude analyse les effets discursifs de la pièce Le dessous des cartes de Paul Nougé, qui fut jouée lors d’un concert-spectacle peu avant la constitution du groupe surréaliste de Bruxelles en 1927. Elle y décèle un subtil tissage de références au genre théâtral et surtout un travail de réécriture qui dénonce les ambitions naïves du théâtre moderniste. Prenant pour cible Les mariés de la tour Eiffel de Jean Cocteau, Nougé montre que le langage, compris dans ses manifestations stéréotypées, opprime la pensée davantage qu’il ne libère l’imagination.
