Cidades em álbuns comemorativos: história, memória e visualidade

Abstract
O presente trabalho busca discutir as relações existentes entre a escrita da história, a memória e a visualidade urbana em álbuns publicados em função de comemorações relativas a aniversários de cidades, especialmente cinquentenários e centenários. Entre as publicações analisadas estão: Album comemorativo do cincoentenário da fundação de Ijuí: 1890-1940; Anuário de Cruz Alta: em comemoração ao 128º aniversário da fundação da cidade, de 1949; Passo Fundo centenário: guia turístico, literário e comercial, de 1957, e o Álbum oficial: cinqüentenário de Erechim, de 1968. O ponto de partida da análise é a reflexão sobre a própria definição desses álbuns no contexto em que foram publicados, questionando a sua função dentro das comemorações das quais fazem parte, as condições e os agentes envolvidos na sua produção e o seu espaço de circulação. Também é fundamental refletir sobre as possibilidades e limites dessas fontes para a pesquisa histórica, apontando os cuidados e possíveis caminhos para compreender os diferentes elementos que convergem para dentro do álbum, como a apresentação da história dos municípios, a construção/afirmação de uma memória política (e o esquecimento de determinados aspectos), o recurso das fotografias para a elaboração de narrativas visuais das cidades como elemento marcante desse tipo de publicação, delimitando as fronteiras entre aquilo que deveria ser visível e invisível nos aniversários municipais. Partindo desses apontamentos iniciais, objetiva-se problematizar a relação entre os principais elementos que compõem os álbuns (história, memória e visualidade) e a conjuntura histórica em que se desenrolam as respectivas comemorações.
