Abstract
This research investigates moments of resistance through an examination of over 5000 photographic archival material of Indian residential schools (IRS), examining how these moments disrupt the colonial narrative and gaze, and the implications for social and political self-determination. The impacts of IRS on Indigenous people in Canada are deeply felt, as witnessed through forms of intergenerational traumas (Smith, Varcoe, & Edwards, 2005). These schools created the means to
