Avec les « réseaux de nez » coordonnés par l’association Air Normand, on aborde la question de la cohabitation sur un même espace d’entités a priori antinomiques. Des citoyens bénévoles ont été volontaires pour devenir des « nez » formés afin d’enregistrer sur une longue durée des olfactions selon un protocole précis. Parallèlement, des industriels se sont engagés dans une démarche « odeurs » en formant des « nez internes ». La question des nuisances odorantes semble sans frontières et interroge les notions d’espace ou de territoire. Dès lors, que veut dire proximité lorsqu’on évoque ce type de nuisances ? Comment ces savoirs sont-ils intégrés dans la recherche commune de solutions ? L’épreuve du lieu de vie renseigne sur le « point de vue » (dans la double acception critique et géographique) effectif par lequel les riverains prennent et posent véritablement les problèmes. Enfin, on ne saurait sous-estimer la portée politique de ce dispositif dans la mesure où il contribue à la construction de l’accord entre les différentes parties prenantes.
