Abstract
Cette contribution explore les représentations de l’espace dans le roman de la route Ourse bleue de Virginia Pésémapéo Bordeleau. L’hypothèse de l’auteur tend à démontrer la cohabitation de deux réseaux de représentations spatiales, tributaires de la culture métissée du personnage principal, Victoria, métisse d’origine crie dont la spiritualité emprunte à la fois au catholicisme de sa jeunesse et à un animisme refoulé avec lequel elle tente de renouer. Le retour vers le pays natal (Baie James) offre ainsi une vision empreinte de syncrétisme où se juxtaposent les mythes de la Terre promise et de la Terre-Mère. Tous deux rendent compte du double mouvement de détérioration/réappropriation de la mémoire et des repères culturels : le premier se construit autour du motif de la perte, qui habite les paysages désertés de l’enfance ; le second exploite une herméneutique de la trace, où la reconquête identitaire est en bonne partie fonction de la capacité de Victoria à interpréter les indices liés au territoire.
