L’espace privilégié de la ruelle, dès le sous-titre du roman de Michel de Pure, La Pretieuse ou les mystères de la ruelle (1656-1658), acquiert une importance primordiale dans la macrostructure du roman. Un locus amoenus isolé du monde extérieur, cet espace intime féminin devient rapidement une métonymie de la préciosité.
